Appearance

All students are required to be neat in appearance. All students must possess a hospitable attitude at all times, dress professionally and act accordingly. We reserve the right to dismiss any student whose conduct does not conform to our schools’ standards. The dress code is as follows: all students are required to wear khaki pants with a collared shirt. No hats, bandanas are allowed. Closed toed shoes must be worn.

Attendance and Conduct

All students are expected to be on time. Students must notify the instructor in advance of all intended absences. Classes that are missed must be made up and passed with a satisfactory grade in order to complete the program. All arrangements to make up the classes will be made by the instructor as to the time and date of the make-up class.

The following applies to student absences:
Any two (2) unexcused absences will result in dismissal. Any two (2) tardies in excess of fifteen minutes (15) will equal one absence. Any leave of absence must be approved by the instructor and the class must be finished within one year.

Students have the right to appeal by applying in writing to the school’s director, within twenty four hours (24) of notification of their dismissal. The Executive Director shall review the dismissal. If the review is satisfactory, the student must make up all class hours or begin a new class at the next available session. There will be no additional cost to the student. All conduct must be professional. Any misconduct, poor work habits or poor attendance will result in the student’s dismissal.
 


Cancellation of the Program

In the event that Hotel & Restaurant Training Services must cancel classes, all current students and enrolled students for future classes will receive a full refund of all money paid.
 

Educational Objective

Our programs are set up to teach basic operating procedures in housekeeping, restaurant serving, banquet serving, foodservice technician and front desk representative.

In accordance with the Training Philosophy, we at Hotel & Restaurant Training Centers believe in the following objectives:

• Motivate, train, and develop all students to their maximum potential.
• Offer dedicated qualified, enthusiastic instructors that provide the tools that will enhance each student’s success in the programs and in their field of work.
• Establish high standards of training in order to maintain satisfaction among the business community that helps the training center’s graduates.
 


Holidays

There will be no classes taught on the following holidays:

New Year’s Eve  New Year’s Day
Memorial Day Independence Day
Labor Day Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Eve  Christmas Day

A week off during March Break will be added****.
Any classes that are scheduled to start on a Holiday will begin the following day. Classes missed due to holidays will be made up at a designated time by the Instructor/Trainer.

Progress and Grading

Students will be graded on a daily basis, based on the following grade schedule:

100 – 90 = A
89 – 79 = B
78 – 69 = C
68 – 60 = D


Anyone receiving a grade below 65 will fail the class and be required to retake the class. A permanent record will be kept for each student at the school and will be made available to the student per their request. Every student will be issued a “Diploma” based upon a satisfactory completion of the program requirements.
 

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Should any applicant or student cancel in person or by written notification or be terminated for any reason, ALL REFUNDS WILL BE MADE ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING POLICY AND SCHEDULE.

1.  All monies will be refunded if the applicant is not accepted by the school or if the student cancels within three business days after signing the enrollment agreement and having made the initial payment. Once classes start the three day cancellation is void. An applicant not requesting cancellation by their specified starting date will be considered a student.

2. Cancellation must be made in person or by certified mail.

3. The termination date for refunds is the last date of actual attendance by the student, unless prior written notice is received.

4. All refunds will be made within 30 days of termination or receipt of the cancellation notice.

5. If a student should be terminated or has requested a cancellation of the enrollment agreement after;

A. The third business day, but before the first class will result in a refund of money paid, excluding the registration fee.

B. Having started classes, but before reaching twenty clock hours, the charges to the student shall not exceed half of the cost plus the registration fee. The refund will be proportionate to the number of hours completed.

C. After completing twenty clock hours the student will not be entitled to any refund and is obligated for the full cost of the course.
